Who kidnapped “Home along the way”??

So as you may have noticed we switched up our name recently. Why? Well at the start we really liked the name Home Along the Way. It perfectly embodied what we were setting out to do on this journey, explore the world and bring our home along with us. So the name was truly ideal.

Overnight spot along HWY 1 just north of Santa Cruz.

Unfortunately, we later found that we were not the original “homealongthewayers”. A lovely family had nabbed the name in 2014 when they started traveling with their 4 kids. But even so, we kept it because we loved it and we figured most of you have never met that family anyway.

hot hot HOT!

But now that our USA road trip is coming to a close and we’ve got our eyes set on a few destinations that are not exactly van-friendly. India, Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand…to name a few. Which means that our home will not be coming along with for this portion of our journey. But we still want to keep at the blogging. It’s just such a great way for us to keep in touch with everyone and keep track of our own travels. Crazy how you really do forget about where you’ve been, who you’ve met, and what you’ve seen. Gotta write it all down!

So why ‘Roaming Geckos’ ? Well like geckos, we are always happier in warmer temperatures. And to be honest that’s the only connection I can think of at the moment. We just like the name and as we’ll be roaming the world these upcoming months it won our midnight name change brainstorming session.

And to kick off our this new chapter how about a live radio appearance?

On Thursday, Aug. 1st “Good Morning Monterey Bay” we were invited by the lovely Rosemary Chalmers to chat about our travels so far on the air. To listen to playback follow the link: http://ksco.com/shows/39580-good-morning-monterey-bay

-Select the recording from Aug. 1st and fast forward to 91:20 to hear our segment.

Thanks to all of you that tuned in live to the show! We had a lot of fun and hope we’ll have another opportunity soon to go LIVE 🙂
